New Fallout 76 Event Is Reportedly Bugged, But There's a Fix (5)

Highlights

  • Some Fallout 76 players are experiencing issues with the recently debuted Meat Week event.
  • Both of its activities sometimes fail to trigger when they are supposed to.
  • Players are advised to immediately switch servers if that happens, which should allow them to side-step the issue.

The Fallout 76 Meat Week event is reportedly bugged, with numerous players claiming that they are experiencing issues with its activities not triggering when they are supposed to. And while the problem possibly stems from a Fallout 76 bug that predates the latest iteration of the event by years, there is a reliable way to side-step the issue.

Meat Week is a Fallout 76 seasonal event that consists of two activities: Primal Cuts and Grahm's Meat-Cook. The latter is supposed to occur at the top of each hour in the forest southwest of Vault 76, while the former is meant to take place at a semi-random location every 15 minutes.

Fallout 76 Players Call For New Quality of Life Feature

Some Fallout 76 players call for a simple quality-of-life feature that they believe would greatly improve their experience surviving in Appalachia.

But many players now appear to be learning that this schedule isn't really working in practice, having claimed that Grahm's Meat-Cook often doesn't trigger on their end. Over a dozen such reports have emerged on Reddit since the latest edition of the two-in-one Fallout 76 event debuted on May 21, together with one corroborating account on the game's Steam Community boards. Game Rant was unable to replicate the issue with Grahm's Meat-Cook, but has consistently witnessed the Primal Cuts event not triggering in its intended 15-minute intervals, sometimes as frequently as three times in a row.

How To Fix Grahm's Meat-Cook and Primal Cuts Not Triggering During Fallout 76 Meat Week

According to multiple player accounts and Game Rant's own testing, both issues can be circumvented by simply hopping servers. That's slightly easier to do with Primal Cuts, which can only be initiated by the player interacting with an event drum to attract beats. But since Grahm's Meat-Cook has a short two-minute start timer that's initiated by just being in its vicinity, there is usually a much tighter interval to react to it not triggering. Players should hence be prepared to hop servers immediately at the top of each hour if they encounter this issue with the latest Fallout 76 event.

While Fallout 76 is not exactly lacking in bugs, activities failing to trigger is still a relatively rare problem to encounter. Nevertheless, the root cause of this particular issue does not appear to be new, as the oldest player reports testifying to its existence date back to the very first edition of Meat Week, which debuted in August 2019. Given that state of affairs, it is dubious whether a permanent fix for the bug is high up on Bethesda's list of priorities.

Be that as it may, both new and returning players may find that the event is still worth the effort. That's largely because the latest edition of Meat Week comes with the highest-ever number of Fallout 76 rewards relative to its past iterations.
