Gluten Free Thanksgiving Recipes! (updated 11/24) (2024)

I was going to make this a list of “10 GF Thanksgiving Recipes” because everyone loves lists. The thing is, as we move closer to Thanksgiving I know I’ll try new things and maybe they’ll be awesome. Then I’d have a conundrum on my hands. So I include here a list, so far, of what I’ve made and works well for a gluten free Thanksgiving. Enjoy!

And please, if you have some tried and true recipes leave a comment with the link. Thanksgiving with food allergies/intolerances can be lonely….or if we come together and help each other out it can be remembered as a warm, loving, fulfilling holiday. So let’s all hold hands, sing, and share those recipes!

Drop Biscuits

Super easy, doesn’t take much time, easy to double (or triple!) the recipe, and they’re also egg free.

Cornbread

Perfect for cornbread stuffing! No one will ever know it’s GF. To make gluten free cornbread stuffing: double the recipe, cut into small pieces, spread on cookie sheets, and bake @ 275 degrees for several hours until dry.

Green Chile Sante Fe Cornbread

Kick it up a notch and add a touch of New Mexico with this spicier cornbread version.

Brazilian Cheese Rolls

Naturally gluten free I’ve seen these springing up at the farmer’s market lately. There’s even a new store nearby that only bakes and sells these (at an exorbitant price..if other people like us only knew how easy and cheap they are to make at home!). These little bites are addictive and easily customizable. For Thanksgiving I add fresh chopped herbs to the dough before baking. (and in case you’re wondering about the copyright, glutenfree100 was my old blog so I swear I’m not a picture thief!).

Smoked Gouda Cheese Rolls

A variation of the basic recipe above these go above and beyond with smoky gouda cheese, cream cheese, and italian herbs. Young and old alike love to pull them apart. A crowd pleaser that’s simple & fairly quick to make.

Triple Herb Overnight Dinner Rolls

Even easier than the Brazilian Cheese Rolls, full of herbs and sentiment, these need to be on your Thanksgiving or holiday menu! Yes, they are like real bread and yes you can serve them to gluten eaters without apology. My in-laws are not GF and they keep going back for more 🙂

Pumpkin Spoon Bread

Typically spoon breads are gluten free. In fact I’ve only ever seen one recipe using gluten. They’re kind of like a cornbread souffle or casserole and they’re delicious!

Sweet Potato Spoon Bread

If pumpkin isn’t your thing, try the sweet potato version! Personally I prefer this sweet potato one over the other but I’m not real gung-ho on pumpkin. I don’t even drink pumpkin spice lattes (gasp!).

(an Ina Garten copycat recipe)

You can’t really go wrong with an Ina recipe. I admit I prefer my tried & true recipe (will be posted soon!) but I believe that for many of us it’s the sentiment attached to a dish that we love more than the actual recipe and that’s probably true about mine.

Make Your Own Stuffing

Speaking of “tried & true” recipes, substitute these GF croutons into any recipe and you’re good to go. And you don’t even have to make bread!

Twice Baked Smashed Potatoes

Because they look cool and taste like the best french fries, mashed potatoes, and crispy potatoes you’ve ever had all rolled into each and every bite you take. Oh and they’re easy. And easy is so very important for holiday meals.

Creamy Artichoke Bake

Great comforting side dish to have at your table.

Roasted Broccoli

Another easy recipe that’s simple, tastes great, and gets the job done.

Topped with roasted pine nuts this soup practically screams, “Thanksgiving! It’s almost Christmas!” It’s vegetarian and easily made vegan, the kids like it, you can make it the day before and heat it in a crockpot the day of, so what’s there not to love about this recipe? Nothing, that’s what, because it’s awesome. You should try it!

It’s a mind shift. It’s not Brussels Sprouts and Bacon. It’s Bacon & Brussels Sprouts. And who doesn’t love bacon? If you have brussels sprouts averse dinner guests see if you can change their minds by cooking them in bacon and covering them in cream.

Classic Apple Pie

Cover all the bases this year and serve apple pie – I mean seriously, who doesn’t like apple pie? Offer some caramel sauce and a scoop of ice cream and you’ve got yourself a home run!
