What are ED-E's trigger words? ›

There are several keywords that can trigger a message. You do not need to hear them all, there are only 2 enclave recordings. The words are "Navarro", "Enclave", "Poseidon", "Air Focre Base", "Eden", "Helios" and "Archemedies".

Get contacted by the Brotherood of Steel and the Followers of the Apocalypse. Give ED-E to the Brotherhood or Followers at the Hidden Valley bunker or the Old Mormon Fort. They will either upgrade his armor or weapons, respectively. After three in-game days, the upgraded ED-E will return to Primm.

Quick walkthrough

Find and examine ED-E in the Nash residence in Primm. Talk to Johnson Nash and mention the robot sitting in his store. Repair ED-E with either: A Repair skill of 65, or a Science skill of 55 and a subsequent lowered Repair skill of 35.

If sent to the Brotherhood, E-DE's armor is greatly improved, increasing his DT by 12 and giving him a shiny new coat of armor. If E-DE is sent to the Followers, he will get a significant boost to his Laser Zapper, allowing him to fire faster and do more damage, also giving him a shiny new armor coat.

Mess with the best, die like the rest. If you do not sacrifice LR ED-E to stop the ICBMs it leaves on its journey in order to both complete its programming and serve you at the same time (it transmits its data to the original ED-E you can recruit in the main game).

After waiting the prerequisite seventy-two hours, the game will prompt you that ED-E has randomly reappeared back at Primm. Head back to town, and you should find him floating around the same shop where you earlier found him disabled. He'll join back up with you, at which point this random side quest will conclude.

Re-entering the Divide, possibly after an extended period, causes you to lose ED-E as a companion permanently. However, the game will still recognize ED-E as a "companion" and the player still receives the "Enhanced Sensors" perk.

When you repair E-DE, you take him to the scrapyard and while you talk to old lady Gibson, with E-DE as your companion, it will trigger a message from the robot afterwards, that's part of his questline. It doesn't matter when you do the quest. Every companion you have will have a quest.
